Planning a wedding in a hot climate as a petite bride, proved quite a challenge for our lovely bride Natasha. None of the ready-made gowns were suitable, leaving her with little or no option but to explore the idea of having her gown custom-made. Recommended by a former bride who was also petite and had undergone a similar dissapointing wedding dress journey, Natasha collaborated with us to create a stunning gown that was both elegant and practical for the warmer climate abroad. The result was a dream dress that exceeded her expectations, featuring sustainable elements and intricate details tailored to her specifications.
Meet our petite bride Natasha.
Natasha, a bride-to-be, was planning her dream wedding in the month of June in Cyprus. As we all know, temperatures in Cyprus in the summer months can be scorching at 30 degrees plus in the daytime.
Standing at 5ft 3", she struggled to find an off-the-peg wedding gown that suited her curves and height and, was along the lines of the styles she preferred in preparation for the heat of the summer sunshine in Cyprus. Natasha knew exactly what she wanted and had tried several gowns to narrow down the details she loved. She decided to visit our London bridal studio with her mother, Maria, to see how we could help.
The Problem for Petite Brides
Natasha's primary challenge was threefold:
Finding a gown suitable for her petite frame: At 5ft 3", Natasha struggled to find a dress that fit her proportions and accentuated her height.
Designing an elegant gown for hot weather: The wedding's destination was known for its high temperatures, making it essential for the gown to be breathable, comfortable and manageable.
Sustainability concerns: Natasha was keen on incorporating sustainable elements into her wedding gown.
With these challenges in mind, Natasha came to see us for advice and solutions that would address her needs and create a memorable, elegant look for her special day.
The Solution
Our team crafted a bespoke gown tailored to address Natasha's concerns and unique requirements: this involved minute attention to the details that mattered most to our tiny bride, whose input, confidence and focus made her a great addition to the production team.
The materials: For her bridal gown we selected an eco friendly stretch satin known as Tri-acetate. Its composition of 78% Tri-acetate and 22% Polyester gives it a truly wonderful handle and drape. Tri-acetate is actually made out of chemically treated wood fibres so is a relatively sustainable fibre. As a sustainable fabric this is a great choice for the eco bride. By repurposing waste materials, we not only reduce our environmental impact but also create a luxurious and comfortable bridal gown that moves beautifully.
Scaled-back design: We created a scaled-back version of the A-Line gowns Natasha had seen, incorporating a thigh-high front wrapover that not only added the illusion of length to her petite frame but also allowed her body to breathe in the hot climate.
Detachable train: To address her sustainability concerns, we designed a detachable train that could be removed later in the day, transforming the gown into a chic, slimline fitted dress for the evening celebration.
Lightweight internal corset: A lightweight internal corset was built into the bodice. Bespoke corsetry crafted to her personal measurements resulted in a piece that was comfortable to wear all day without the discomfort of badly positioned boning wires. Additionally, Natasha’s corset provided her with full control and support without the need for additional foundation garments or a brassiere. providing Natasha with control and support without the need for additional foundation garments or a brassiere.
Throughout the process, Natasha was involved in every stage, from concept to the final dress. Her input was invaluable in ensuring the gown matched her vision perfectly.
Results
Natasha's wedding dress exceeded her expectations. She was thrilled with the outcome:
Flattering design: The shaping of the neckline and positioning of the shoulder straps were cut to flatter and enhance her bust without looking heavy or outdated.
Showcasing her best features: The draped front panel highlighted her waistline, while the thigh-high split showcased her shapely legs and Aquazzaro shoes.
Versatility for the celebration: Natasha planned to wear the gown (minus the train) for a second beach photoshoot as part of the celebration, achieving an effortlessly chic and relaxed look with a small pose of flowers.
Client satisfaction: Natasha felt she had complete control throughout the process of creating her one-of-a-kind bespoke wedding dress in line with her vision.
For the beach photo shoot, Natasha wore the gown without the train, achieving an effortless, chic, and relaxed look with a small bouquet of flowers.
Natasha's Shares about the Experience of Choosing a Couture Wedding Dress for Warm Weather
I went to Cynthia after struggling to find a wedding dress in numerous bridal shops and feeling very deflated. I had an idea of what I wanted but Cynthia completely elevated and completed the idea to create a timeless bespoke wedding dress that I couldn’t have been happier with! We had two looks with one dress (large overskirt which could then be removed for the reception party) and it was so seamlessly made that at no point could you see it was a separate overskirt. She was so understanding throughout the process and each stage of the design and fitting process filled me with such excitement that I hadn’t previously felt when going to wedding dress shops. Cynthia has great energy and makes you feel so comfortable and calm, every meeting felt like a catch up with a friend! Her fashion knowledge is second to none and she is a true master in her craft.
A year on I look back at the journey from design to completion of my couture wedding dress with such fond memories and couldn’t recommend Cynthia and her team enough.

The Design Process in Detail
The journey of creating a bespoke wedding dress particularly for a bride planning a wedding in warmer weather, begins with an intimate consultation, where we invite brides like Natasha to share their dreams, inspirations, and personal style. This initial meeting is not merely a formality; it is a passionate exchange of ideas that lays the groundwork for an extraordinary garment. We delve deep into the details - discussing fabric choices, colour palettes, silhouettes and even the importance of personal hygiene ensuring that every element resonates with the bride's vision.
Once the concept begins to take shape, we transform ideas into sketches, each pencil stroke is infused with elegance and intention. This stage is crucial, as it allows for visualisation of the final product while providing the bride with an opportunity to express herself creatively. Feedback is welcomed at every turn; our aim is to make every bride an integral part of the design journey.
With the sketches approved, the process evolves into selecting the finest materials. We source luxurious fabrics that not only look exquisite but also feel divine against the skin, ensuring comfort throughout the day. Each choice, be it lace, silk, or satin, carries significance, contributing to the overall aesthetic and functional integrity of the dress.
Prototypes are crafted to perfect every detail. This involves meticulous fittings that allow us to alter the design to the bride's unique figure, ensuring an impeccable fit. Our skilled artisans sew with precision, draping fabric in ways that accentuate the body while maintaining a sense of lightness and movement. The design process culminates in the creation of a gown that is a true reflection of the bride's essence—a piece that tells her story and celebrates her individuality.
In this collaborative experience, we cherish the trust our brides place in us, crafting not just a dress, but an heirloom that encapsulates the beauty of their unique love story.
